Child Car Safety

Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death for children 14 and younger. In 2022, 598 children 12 and younger were killed in traffic crashes while riding in passenger vehicles. Of those killed, 39% were not using a car seat, seat belt, or booster seat. However, when car seat restraints are used correctly, they can reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers.
